ANANDA GROUP had been instituted as Ananda Builders, an engineering company comprised of shipbuilding, mechanical & civil engineering in 1983 by a visionary Naval Architect Dr. Abdullahel Bari and his wife Mrs Bari. The company took various mechanical engineering assignments, such as, setting up power plant, erection of factory complexes and civil engineering, especially road construction. However company got repeated orders for small vessels, ships and boats which were executed on the bank of the Buriganga river on a rented space.
In the year 1986, the company acquired a location on the bank of the mighty Meghna in a bid to set up a shipyard. The company by then as Ananda Builders Ltd had completed projects of construction of six aluminum survey vessels, 150 pontoons & jetties and two Tugs. Soon the quality shipbuilding brought name & fame for the company. From then on, a legacy of many historic fists was set by and in Ananda shipyard.
In 2005, Ananda received the first direct ship export order from Denmark. “Stella Maris” made it on the record book as the first export from Bangladesh on the 15th September 2008. Since inception, the yard has undertaken various projects secured through participating in international tenders funded by international funding agencies, the Govt. of Bangladesh and Private owners for inland and coastal vessels and water structures.
The quality of works has been certified by classification societies (Member of IACS) & reputed inspection agencies. In general, the shipyard has satisfied the delivery schedules of clients.
Yard Production area comprises of 80,000 sq. meters, of which 20,000 sq. meters are covered. Yard’s workshops are fitted with modern machinery and equipment. Shipbuilding halls are fitted with EOTS and Slipways are fitted with gantry cranes.
A team of 100 qualified & experienced personnel is leading a workforce of more than 1500 heads in the sections of lofting, cutting, welding, erection, fitting, woodworking, mechanical works, electrical works, painting and quality control and thus producing reasonably modern quality vessels in-house Computer Aided Design office provides designs & drawings to the shipyard.
In terms of equipment, manpower and experience, the shipyard ranks among the top shipyards in South Asia.
The group expended its field of activities into textiles, PP products, property and asset development, shipping and retained its original business profile of mechanical and civil engineering works.
